At Sandvik, sustainability is a strategic choice guiding everyday decisions, product development, and supply chain management. Together with our customers and partners, we aim to build a more sustainable industry through innovation, circularity, and transparency.
We are committed to sustainable product design and are part of Finland’s Circular Economy Green Deal. In collaboration with SSAB, we explore the use of fossil-free steel in mining equipment. We also provide life-cycle carbon footprint calculations to help mining companies make more responsible purchasing decisions.
Our initiatives include:
Extending the life cycle of machines and improving resource efficiency
A recycling program for drill bits, reusing tungsten carbide inserts to reduce waste and secure access to critical minerals
A Batteries as a Service concept, where Sandvik takes responsibility for the entire battery life cycle up to recycling
Piloting remanufacturing services together with suppliers to create new value across the chain
